We have reached our target! A big thank you to everyone who helped us raise well over £5000, we are very grateful for your generous support. It was a fantastic effort.
The works to the roof on our headquarters should be carried out this summer, ensuring a safe and leak free environment for the future. This means the 1st Oulton Broad Sea Scout Group can continue providing fun and exciting opportunities for young people (and Leaders!) for many more years to come. Without your support this wouldn't have been possible, thank you.
About the Roof Appeal
We launched our Roof Appeal in 2007 in order to secure funds for the rapidly deteriorating roof on our Group Headquarters. Although it was still weather tight at the time it was estimated that we would need £7000 to repair it in the near future. With such a huge sum to raise we decided to start as soon as possible.
Our first event was a Sponsored Hike with everyone getting involved. The Scouts started at Herringfleet Campsite, the Cubs joined them at Somerleyton and they met up with the Beavers in Oulton, all finishing together in Nicolas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad. It was such a success it became an annual event, raising over £2000 in just three hikes!
Numerous other fundraising events, several generous donations and a locality grant helped us reach our final total of £5318.49 in mid-2010.
